Senator Barbara Boxer wants the Senate Commerce Committee to hold an emergency hearing on the commuter rail collision that killed 25 people in Los Angeles.
The California Democrat made the request in a letter Monday to the chairman and top Republican on the committee, of which she's a member.
Boxer wants senators to discuss legislation requiring technology that would prevent crashes even when a train fails to stop at a red light—as happened in Friday's crash.
